In the End All You Want Is Control
I refer to this quote regularly as I find it particularly apt as a developer regularly trying to wrangle a Rails monolith.
In the beginning you always want results. In the end all you want is control.
I think it really neatly captures the lifecycle of a lot of software projects, and particularly Rails projects. Rails allows you to move very quickly in the short term, but can be challenging in the long term if you want to move away from the Rails way of doing things.
